With the growing number of bear sightings in the Town and Village of Saugerties, we thought it would be a good idea to point out some online resources that provide a refresher about how to live responsibly with your black bear neighbors.
Do you know what to do when you encounter a black bear, in your travels?
What's the best approach to how to attract birds to your yard, and yet not create a "bear magnet" in the process?
Did you know that in a recent study, more than half of all incidents involving people and black bears also involved dogs?
Consider some quick reading material, to make you, your family and your pets safer, in an environment where black bears are frequent visitors to our homes and neighborhood.
Visit the "Be BearWise" page on this website -- https://saugerties.ny.us/bears -- for more information.
