For the 59th consecutive summer, the Saugerties Summer Youth Recreation Program will take place. The program commences on Tuesday, July 6 and runs until Friday, August 13. Once again, we will be offering both half-day and full day programs, Monday - Friday.
To comply with CDC, State and County guidelines, along with social distancing, there will be a new look to the program, along with many of the components. The Large Pavilion will no longer be the sole drop-off and pick up area. Instead multiple drop-off / pickup areas will be established, as will each participants' "home base".
The designated drop off area is where Counselors will greet participants and parents. Parents will be asked to speak briefly with the Counselors each morning for any information that needs to be conveyed without lingering and while maintaining social distancing etiquette. The Counselors will wait for all to assemble before moving to their “home base” for camp.
Participants will have their temperatures taken at the beginning and end of each week. Those able to place and remove their own face masks will be required to wear one as much as possible, as will Counselors.
All children will be assigned to a “pod” within their group. Counselor to participant ratio will conform to State and County standards, along with Governor’s Executive Order(s).
Children will not be able to move from their “pod” once established. The Counselors will be the only individuals who will touch these participant's belongings and supplies. Counselor(s) will move with them from activity to activity and be responsible for their well-being.
“Pods” will be able to do activities with, and will move around, with the other “pod/s” in their group. Unfortunately, they will not be able to interact with other “pods” or groups at this time.
Groups will have their own bins of supplies for Arts & Crafts, Nature Studies, and general down time games, so there will be less cross contamination. Sports supplies will be cleaned between each group.
Every precaution will be taken to ensure the children have a fun but safe summer.
