2018 Assessment Changes
The Town of Saugerties has been committed to maintaining assessments at 100% of market value since completely reassessing properties in 2010. To accomplish this, my office must do what is called trending, which is comparing sales prices to assessed values. When a trend is observed between these factors, we make changes to assessed values. Due to these trends, assessed values were decreased in 2011, 2012, and 2013; no adjustments were made in 2014 and 2015; and there was a partial increase in 2016 and 2017.
For the 2018 assessment roll, the trending required another partial increase in assessed values. These changes were:
- For residential properties with assessed values between $150,000 and $200,000, there was an increase of 2%;
- For residential properties with assessed values greater than $200,000, there was an increase of 6%;
- For the commercial business district in the Village, there was an increase of 10%
- For the apartment class of properties, there was an increase of 6%.
